Connecting to the Real World, Part 1 (CS Discoveries - Code.org)
Context: One way to act in the role of lead learner is to actually model the process you use to learn something new (last bullet in the above section). This activity will guide you through finding real world connections back to what students are learning in the curriculum.
Considering the learning objectives of those lessons, identify possible connections between the underlying CS concepts and what’s happening in industry. Use whatever process is natural for you to learn more about the real world application of the concepts being explored in the curriculum.
Note that it’s not important that you yourself are an expert on whatever real world application of the concept. In fact, push yourself to learn more about something that you are NOT already an expert in. Focus here on learning enough about something to provide context and background for teachers and students who don’t have insight into industry developments.
Choose one lesson from the unit and reflect ona few possible industry or real-world connections for the lesson you chose. Be sure to identify which learning objective(s) your connections relate to.
